Optional Race Rules: Shardmind
The Shardmind are a near immortal race from the Astral plane. When the war between the Githzerai and the Githyanki broke out, many worlds were lost and many races became nomads. The Shardmind migrated to many worlds, including the Prime Material plane. They often sought out the Underdark, with glittering crystals overhead reminding them of their starry home. The war happened so long ago, that a Material Plane sect is measurably different from their astral cousins.
Shardmind look like tall statues made of gem, although they are living. Their gems resonate and break apart when severed from their bodies and eventually return to dust, making them useless for decorative or financial purposes. They stand between 5’8″ and 6’2″ tall and weigh anywhere between 180 to 250 pounds.
Ability Score Increase: All Shardmind increase their Intelligence by +2
Age: Shardminds are living constructs, and as such have lifespans of hundreds of years.
Alignment: Logical beings, Shardminds tend towards Neutrality.
Speed: 30 Feet
Deep Speech: Shardminds can communicate in an unusual language which can be understood by any race that lives under the ground. Dwarves, Gnomes, Drow and the like can all communicate in their native tongues with Shardminds without difficulty.
Subraces: Choose between Astralborn and Torilborn.
Ability Score Increase: Increase your Charisma by +1
Skill: Gain proficiency in Arcane.
Shard Storm: All foes in 5 feet suffer disadvantage on their next attack roll, then instantly move up to 15 feet away from your current position. This can be done a number of times per day equal to your intelligence modifier, but only to a maximum of half your level.
Ability Score Increase: Increase your Wisdom by +1
Vision: Torilborn Shardminds have Darkvision.
Natural Resistance: Poison
Natural Armor: While wearing no Armor, increase your AC by +1
